ok, so we may not have fooled as many folks as we had planned, but we sure had a helluva good time 🙂

thanks to all the conspirators involved in our fun: Kevin & Deb @ Supernova, Jeff Clavier, Gil Penchina, Josh Kopelman, Mike Arrington, and most especially Wayne Lambright, for an amazing demo performance and for putting together some awesome screenshot mockups. along with the ZapMeals company blog i cooked up a few weeks ago, Wayne really made our ‘fake’ business come to life! (guess it must have been all that ToastMasters training).

btw, for those thinking this “fake” company was too good to be true, i should mention Wayne really *does* run an online foodie website called Tastyr.com, with over 4,000 restaurant reviews in San Francisco & growing. if you’re hungry and you live in SF, i suggest you check it out… unfortunately, they don’t deliver just yet 😉

Hello friends of ZapMeals, SuperNova2007 starts today and we’re excited to meet you all. I probably wont be able to make it in today since I’m still crafting our demo presentation, but I would love to meet our users on Thursday after the session in the afternoon.

I was down in LA over the weekend and had a chance to meet one of the local food preparers participating in our private beta. Listen to Angela’s feedback on ZapMeals… gotta love her enthusiasm 🙂

Hello friends of ZapMeals! Over the weekend Ivan has been load testing the new network and everything is working very well. We are still on schedule for our July 1, 2007 open beta launch.

For the techies out there, we’re running an IBM system cluster 1350. Currently we have 10 nodes in the network, and what’s brilliant about this cluster is that you can scale up to over 1024 nodes… now that’s scalability :-). Our CTO & co-founder Ivan is a Linux guy, so if you have any questions about this node post them in the comments. For more info on our hardware checkout this IBM 1350 link.

This week ZapMeals will be presenting as a Supernova 2007 Connected Innovator. The Supernova program highlights emerging technologies and top web influencers, and it’s being put together by Kevin Werbach, an assistant professor at The Wharton School.

For those of you wondering about me (Wayne Lambright), I’ve provided a video clip below that explains a little more about my involvement in co-founding ZapMeals:

We’re currently operating a very limited private beta in the LA area, however we’ll be opening our service to a larger test audience in a few months. Additional metro areas we’re considering for our initial public launch later this summer are San Diego, Seattle, and the SF bay area.
